Despair, tragedy, loneliness These words come to mind about 9-11 Questions often asked, yet never answered Why did it happen? Did we deserve this? When is my father coming home? No one could have thought a country so great Could possibly be laid to ruin like this No one could have thought such overconfidence Would possibly damage our country Would possibly destroy families Would possibly make our lives a run from fear And how much confusion and misunderstanding Could cause fingers to be pointed at peacekeepers Rather then demons among them
And yet
Unity, strength, faith Three words more powerful then the fist Though evil may come to this great country, It will not succeed For love conquers all And though you thought you have bruised us You only brought us together And surprised even ourselves, on how great we really are And those who think we have lost That, which weakens us, only makes us stronger, And which weakens us only brings us together |
