The advanced computer class worked on the Robolab Project
sponsored by M-DCPS Instructional Technology Department.
Equipment: Robolab (educational set--consumer set is Lego Mindstorms)

Background: Students and teachers alike love robotics, but never before has there been such an easy way to bring this fascinating topic into the classroom. With ROBOLAB, robotic construction is facilitated by using the familiar LEGO Dacta activity cards to construct a robotic model. This model is built around the RCX programmable LEGO brick used to control motors and lights and to sense temperature, light, and touch.

RMS received 4 sets. Each set has enough pieces to build 4 models. The 4 sets allowed Rockway Middle students to build up to 16 models. The starter set included 4 bricks and 1 IR tower. Additional programmable Lego bricks were purchased. Total cost to provide a complete Lego Robolab kit to a class of 36 students is $3500.

Thank you M-DCPS ITD for this opportunity.
